Hacienda San Jose
From ancestral roots to your local market

Hacienda San Jose is a fifth-generation Ecuadorian cacao farm producing award-winning chocolate. Their Minneapolis-based shop offers single-origin chocolate made from beans grown, fermented, and dried on their own plantations. They emphasize sustainability, full traceability, and social responsibility. Their chocolate is known for its creamy texture, nutty flavor, and hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

Why We Love Them
Minnesota Sweets!
Hacienda San Jose brings generations of chocolate-making expertise from Ecuador to Minnesota, and we’re honored to share their story. Their single-origin chocolates are rich in flavor and purpose, crafted with care, sustainability, and a deep respect for the land and people behind every bean.
Meet the Maker
Monica Jimenez
“If we make the best cacao beans in the world, it’s time to make the best chocolate… And so we did”, says Monica Jimenez, founder of Hacienda San Jose Chocolate. This chocolate is sourced from her family’s award-winning, 90-year-old cacao plantation, Hacienda San Jose, in Los Rios, Ecuador.
In 2018, Monica introduced her single-origin chocolate bars and baking morsels to her now Twin Cities home market. This is no ordinary chocolate… let a rich smooth square melt in your mouth. Or trying some of their baking chocolate to whip up delectables in your kitchen. As an added bonus, we all know the health benefits of real chocolate right?
