Coccinella is a family-owned business bringing the best of Mediterranean culture to the U.S. They offer premium Oleavia Extra Virgin Olive Oils, Aegean Breeze cotton textiles, and artisan-made ceramics. Inspired by their sons’ educational journey in the U.S., the founders launched Coccinella in 2018 to share their Turkish heritage and hospitality. The name “Coccinella” (Latin for ladybug) symbolizes good fortune and ecological balance.

Meet the Maker
Suayip and Seher Kaplan
At just 14 and 15, our boys faced a world unknown to them – new people, traditions, and a language they barely understood. But they were welcomed with open arms, finding community, making new friends, and sharing in the lives of those around them. Watching them flourish through their school years, our family grew to feel a deep gratitude for these friendships and the warmth of their American community. After graduating, our sons continued their education at Michigan State University, but soon realized they wanted a smaller, more intimate environment, leading them to transfer to a college in Minnesota. During our frequent visits throughout the years, we were always touched by the warmth and generosity of their friends, teachers, and their families. It was a true reflection of how open-hearted this community had been to our family.
Suayip and Seher Kaplan and their two sons came to the Twin Cities from Turkey to share their knowledge of living a healthy Mediterranean lifestyle. Their premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is made from hand-picked olives, harvested using practices designed to maximize polyphenol antioxidants within the final product.
“As a family, we deeply value good nutrition. Extra Virgin Olive Oil, EVOO, is an essential part of our Mediterranean diet and know that not every EVOO is the same. The production process makes all the difference in flavor and quality. Our goal is to work meticulously to preserve the fresh taste of the EVOO and, most importantly, maintain high polyphenol and antioxidants!
